Species Description
This seastar is distinguised by its red/orange color, which is sometimes speckled with other colors. Its arms usually number 5 (can be 4-9), may reach 10 cm in length, and are webbed. SAMPLING CODE NOTES: _ _ _R=Recruit <2.5 cm. Formerly of the genus Asterina.
Species Habitat
Asterina miniata is an omnivore and eats by extending its stomach over whatever food it may have scavenged.
Species Range
Alaska to Baja California, Mexico, most common in Central California.
