Species Description
Low column with 48 to 96 short conical tentacles, with a pore at the tip of each tentacle. Color is highly variable. A small species of anenome, with the crown reaching only about 50 mm in diameter.
Species Habitat
Attached to rocks, eel grass and kelp. They reproduce sexually. Most of the young adults are females, but they also have testes that develop along with ovaries. Sperm is produced only by large, older females.
Species Range
Middle and low intertidal zones, also subtidal; Southern Alaska to Southern California.
