Species Description
Brown alga - Thalli have radially arranged branching "leaves". "Leaves" are simple blades with midribs and cryptostomata. Blades occur in branchlets remote from one another, not in clusters along the main axis (as in S. agardhianum).

Rocks and mud in low intertidal and upper subtidal.

Prince of Wales Island, Alaska, to Baja California; native to Japan and China
