Species Description
Gray to tan-colored star has plates and spines on the edges of each arm. There are no suckers on the tube feet. Width to about 150 mm.
Species Habitat
On soft bottoms, usually in sand; these sea stars are capable of moving on or below the surface of the sand. They feed on snails, such as Olivella biplicata.
Species Range
From the very low intertidal to 54 m; San Pedro, California to Ecuador.
