Species Description
Has a low, spiral shell that is usually red-brown. The operculum has a shallow groove and is smooth. Diameter to about 50 mm. Generally smaller and knobs of whorls more delicate than Megastraea undosum (LIUN), but easiest way to tell apart is operculum. SAMPLING CODE NOTES: _ _ _R=Recruit <2.5 cm. Formerly of the genus Lithopoma.

On rocks. Formerly Astraea gibberosa.
Species Range
Low intertidal to 80 m; British Columbia, Canada to Baja California, Mexico.
