Species Description
This large sea cucumber has prominent, stiff, conical papillae. The body can reach lenghts of 40 cm, but contracts when disturbed. Formerly of the genus Parastichopus.
Species Habitat
Feeds on detritus and small organisms in sediment. The commercial fishery for this organism is growing due to foreign demand.
Species Range
Low intertidal and subtidal to 90 m; Alaska to Baja California, Mexico.
