Species Description
Five arms with radius to 32 cm or greater. Aboral spines much shorter than those of P. giganteus (PIGI).Color pink.
Species Habitat
An opportunistic scavenger and one of the largest sea star species known. Preys on clams, snails, and sand dollars. Found on rocky and soft bottoms.
Species Range
Low intertidal and subtidal to 90 m; Sitka, Alaska to La Jolla, California.
