Species Description
Garibaldi are bright orange, with juveniles displaying iridescent blue spots throughout body. Body is oval and thin with largely lobed tail. Raised fore-dorsal area above eyes. Young of year to 7.5 cm, adults to 36 cm.
Species Habitat
Found in rocky areas and kelp forests. Extremely territorial. Create red algal turf nests which are strictly guarded.
Species Range
Central California to Southern Baja California, Mexico.
