Species Description
This star has prominent spines on the arms. The color varies from rose-pink mottled with gray to red mottled with yellow. Diameter to about 38 cm.
Species Habitat
On rocky and soft bottoms. Molluscs are the major prey for this sea star.
Species Range
Very low intertidal to 240 m; Yakutat Bay, Alaska to Southern California.
