Species Description
Gopher Rockfish are olive brown with several small white, yellow or reddish tan spotting or blotches on body. Two brown stropes fan from eyes. Several pale white blotches extend from dorsal fins (3rd, 4th, mid-foredorsal) onto back. Length 6 to 12 inches, 15.5 max.
Species Habitat
Found in rocky areas including caves and crevices.
Species Range
Subtidal depth to 180 ft; Central California to central Baja. Uncommon in northern California.
