Species Description
A bushy colony to 25 cm tall. The stalks are delicate and branching in all planes. The feeding polyps are at all of the branch tips.The exoskeleton is thin and transparent.
Species Habitat
Grazing by Hermissenda crassicornis (HECR) and Dendronotus frondosus and other nudibranchs can reduce a heavy autumn hydroid colony to short stubby stalks by spring. Fixes itself to rocks, pilings, seaweeds, shells and other things.
Species Range
Low intertidal to 50 m; genus located worldwide.
