Mostly tufted thalli 5 to 10 cm tall, blackish green. Main axes erect to 1 mm diameter, pinnately branched above main axis.

Frequent on sides of rocks where high surf is present. Often found as an epiphyte on Egregiain the fall.

Midtidal to lower intertidal; Southern British Columbia, Canada, to Isla San Benito, Baja California, Mexico.
