Species Description
The most slender and darkest small plover. Note dark cheek, orange legs and single black breast-band that extends around neck.
Species Habitat
Common on open mudflats and beaches. Nests on tundra and shingle beaches.
Species Range
Migratory. Breeding grounds in arctic and sub-arctic regions. Winters in US along Pacific Coast from California to Baja California, with smaller numbers wintering locally north to Oregon and Washington, and Pacific and Atlantic coasts in Central America.
