Species Description
Big-headed with flat forehead and short-tailed. Crown has central white stripe bordered by thick dark stripes, otherwise mostly plain buff on face and chest. Includes subspecies: floridanus

Common in grasslands with scattered shrubs or weeds.
Species Range
Migratory. In breeding season, it is found along the west coast, east coast and eastern US states. Winters in the south-east and Mexico.
